Intro: G A D

D G A D A
On McLean’s Mountain the June sun glows warm.
D A D A
Clover and cedar are scenting the air.
G G/F# Em Bm F#m
Gathering strawberries here at your side,
   G A D
I watch the wind play in your hair.

 G A G A
Down in the city, the traffic grinds on.
Bm F#m Bm F#7
Folks on the sidewalks are jostled along.
G A D G
They may enjoy life in swift city rhythms,
       Em A
But I’m always glad to come home.

Here on the Island, the trees frame the sky.
A flourish of wildflowers trims roadways with lace.
Dawn air resounds with the crane’s clattering cry;
At twilight, the heron wings our way.

Yes, in the city, there’s places to go:
Movies and concerts, museums and shows,
Night and day shopping, and take-out to go.
It’s fun for a few breathless days.

Back on the Island we walk hand in hand,
Watching our children skip stones on the shore.
My heart is full of the dance of the waves.

   G A Bm Bm/A
I watch the wind play in your hair.
   G A D
I watch the wind play in your hair.
