I was born in Kingston, Ontario, and had a childhood filled with lakes and rocks and tall trees. I began to study piano when I was little, and after we moved to Toronto in 1967 I studied with Alma Cockburn. I participated in the children's choir at St. George's United Church under the direction of Lloyd Bradshaw and Elaine Lawrence. I was very fortunate to know two teenaged youth leaders who loved to sing praises, and from them I learned to "sing a new song." Both of my parents love music and have always encouraged me. After I got married, I studied music at the University of Toronto. Many thanks to John Kruspe, the very best of teachers!
I have lived on Manitoulin Island for 20 years now. I directed choirs at Lyons Memorial United Church for six years, and directed the music at All Saints Anglican for 8 years. At present, I direct the Manitoulin Community Choir, a wonderful and lively group of around 30 singers. It is a privilege!
My husband Paul and I have been involved in various kinds of church music for most of our lives, and we hope that this music will be useful both in church and out. My thanks to the many friends who have sung these songs!
